:: When the City of Burbank received funding to renovate their water and power facility, one of the requirements was to spend some of the money on aesthetic improvements. We were asked to design an inviting, fun, and interactive landscape that would also act as an unofficial gateway into the downtown area of Burbank.
:: Undulating layers of textured and colorful plants border the main buildings and run along the canal side of the power plant.
:: Thoughtful planning with the community made the fact that a power plant next door was a non-issue. The landscape has transformed what would otherwise be an off-limits facility into one that is welcoming and appealing.
:: The entire project uses 100% recycled water. Artists Kathleen Caricof and Dale Claude Lamphere designed new fountains. Client: Burbank Water & Power
