Owner: Claremont McKenna College
The Kravis Center serves as Claremont McKenna College’s new western gateway. AHBE worked closely with Rafael Vinoly Architects to develop a design that successfully integrates indoor and outdoor spaces and unifies the circulation between the Kravis Center and adjacent buildings. A central lawn area (pictured) is an on-structure garden that seamlessly extends the campus mall landscape to Kravis Center. A sunken courtyard provides an outdoor room that brings natural light into lower level classrooms. Rooftop gardens, located among the Kravis Center’s upper terrace levels, are formal and simple in design, allowing for flexible uses, from large events to intimate gatherings. The Kravis Center is a LEED Silver facility.
