VAN NUYS CIVIC CENTER

VAN NUYS, CALIFORNIA

:: AHBE was challenged to design a public plaza that could help restore a "sense of community and civic pride" in the center of the San Fernando Valley.

:: Working with the newly built Marvin Braude Building and the garden of Braude Plaza, the plaza provides a large public gathering area as well as quiet places for people to sit under shade trees or on a sunny lawn.

:: All landscaping will be done "on structure", built over an underground parking lot.

:: The original formal entrance area of the building will be landscaped in a style that pays tribute to the Art Deco era that the building was originally built in.

:: Client: City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, with Tetra Design
