Claremont Univ. Consortium Admin. Bldg.

Claremont, California

Architect: LTL

Owner: The Claremont Colleges, Claremont University Consortium

The 9-acre Claremont University Consortium (CUC) campus hosts the support facilities for The Claremont Colleges – Pomona College, Claremont Graduate University, Scripps College, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, Pitzer College, and the Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences. AHBE is working directly with CUC and the architecture design teams on an expansion of the existing administrative complex (LTL Architects) and construction of a new facilities and storage element for Pomona College (Houston/Tyner Architects).   The building expansion project features a new building entry framed by an extensive native plant garden (designed in conjunction with the nearby Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden); an employee dining deck and circulation element on the south side; and an elevated interior succulent garden. The project also incorporates re-landscaping and expansion of the existing parking lot and City of Claremont streetscape along First Street. The project is designed toward a targeted LEED Gold Rating. AHBE's scope of work is design through construction administration for planting, irrigation, and hardscape.
