Calvin Abe, FASLA, RLA

Calvin Abe was the Founder, President, and CEO of AHBE Landscape Architects until the firm joined MIG, where he is a Principal. Calvin is a California registered landscape architect and a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Known for his innovative and collaborative design approach, he has lectured, taught, and served as a visiting critic for landscape architecture programs at several U.S. colleges. He is also an artist who explores photography as a medium for seeing the beauty in landscapes. Calvin received his Master of Landscape Architecture degree from Harvard University Graduate School of Design and his Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. 


Linda Daley has been a leader in all aspects of the AHBE's practice, from project and studio management to strategic planning and business development. She joined the firm in 1998, became its Managing Principal, an owner, and board officer. Linda continues her role as a Principal with the joining of AHBE and MIG in 2019, responsible for the management of the AHBE/MIG Los Angeles operations and leading a team committed to creating a healthier future for the planet. Linda serves on the board of the Association for Women in Architecture Foundation and a former board officer for its affiliated organization, the Association for Women in Architecture and Design. 


Gary Lai is a landscape architect, educator and sustainability advocate. He approaches design from the perspective of integrating the planet's natural processes into built environments. His passion for landscape sustainability and resiliency issues has been evident in his work with AHBE and continues in his role as Principal and Director of Sustainability at AHBE/MIG. Gary is also deeply involved in the local professional sustainability community, including Living Building Challenge and the U.S. Green Building Council/Los Angeles Chapter. 


Evan Mather is an accomplished landscape architect with several award-winning projects during his tenure at AHBE. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Treasurer and Executive Committee member of the Southern California ASLA, and an internationally recognized filmmaker. As a firm leader, he integrates research and technology into the design process. He sees design as an opportunity to find the unique qualities of a community and tell the story of a place and its people. His love for storytelling is manifested in the feature films and short films he creates about the complexities of landscape architecture. With the joining of AHBE and MIG, Evan will continue to build a practice of design excellence as a Principal and Director of Landscape Architecture.
